Patient and Public Voice Member, vacant role

Get involved in shaping health and care in Lambeth

Patient and Public Voice Members will support us to make better decisions about health and care services and to connect with our communities, ensuring that we hear about and act on significant issues for Lambeth people.

People who live in Lambeth or who regularly use health and care services in Lambeth can apply. If this is you, and you’re interested in health and care and you have active local networks, the Board wants to hear from you. The deadline for submitting your expression of interest is 24 July.

What is Lambeth Together?

Lambeth Together is a partnership of the NHS, local authority, the voluntary sector and others, focused on improving health and wellbeing in Lambeth and on reducing unfair and avoidable differences in health between different groups of people. We are part of the South East London Integrated Care System, a new way of working to join up health and care for better services and better outcomes for people.

What does the Board do?

Our leadership team, the Lambeth Together Care Partnership Board, is responsible for planning and managing most local health and care services from a single budget at borough level from July 2022. We are committed to involving local people in all aspects of our work. This includes setting and reviewing our priorities; developing and delivering our plans; and overseeing our work and making decisions.

We meet regularly throughout the year to discuss and reach decisions about priorities and plans for health and care in Lambeth, and to monitor progress. To support our ambition to involve local people in decisions about health and care planning, we have created two new voluntary Patient and Public Voice Member roles. These will join our Board as voting members. As part of our equalities agenda, we are keen that our Board reflects the diversity of our Lambeth population and so we’d especially like to encourage interest from younger adults, disabled people and people from Black and multi ethnic communities.

What will the Patient and Public Voice Member role involve?

You’ll attend monthly Lambeth Together Care Partnership Board meetings to discuss and reach decisions about priorities and plans for health and care in Lambeth, and to monitor progress. You’ll need to maintain your networks and channels for staying in touch with community interests and experience within Lambeth. Potentially, you could also be involved in specific areas of work, such as community sessions or the Public Forum. We anticipate Public Voice Members will need to be available for around 6-8 hours per month to fulfil essential responsibilities, with the possibility of more time for development and support.  This role is voluntary (unpaid) but provides opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge, build links and to be part of strategic decision-making at Board and borough level over a two year term.
