Lambeth Together partnership welcomes new Clinical and Care Professional Leaders

Lambeth Together welcomed 12 new Clinical and Care Professional Leaders at the May meeting of the Lambeth Together Care Partnership Board.

These individuals, who all work within health and care services in the borough, will bring invaluable clinical and professional expertise to Lambeth Together’s work to improve health and wellbeing and to tackle inequalities in the borough as part of an integrated health and care system.

Developing more personalised and more joined up care

Alongside their usual front line roles, the Clinical and Care Professional Leaders will be involved in developing and designing new improved, more personalised and more joined up ways of supporting people and delivering care across different settings – from hospitals to GP surgeries, to care homes, community settings and in people’s homes.

Each new Leader is assigned to support a priority area of work. These include: maternity, children and young people’s health, domestic abuse, mental health, learning disability and autism, diagnostics, planned care, medicines, social prescribing and managing long term conditions such as diabetes or chronic pain.

Collaborating across health and care professions

Within their specialist area, each of our new Clinical and Care Professional Leaders will collaborate with colleagues across different health and care disciplines and with patients and communities to share learning, to innovate and to drive improvements that draw on their own direct experience and on the lived experience of people and our communities.

Building on Lambeth’s innovative tradition

This builds on a tradition of involving local clinicians in Lambeth through an innovative Clinical Network that has been in place for several years. These new appointments ensure that Lambeth Together’s plans are supported by leaders from a diverse range of clinical and care professions who are involved in shaping developments and decision-making at all levels.

Andrew Eyres, Strategic Director for Health and Care in Lambeth, said:

I’m delighted we’ve brought a wide range of clinical and care professionals into leadership roles within Lambeth Together. Our new recruits include GPs, midwives and pharmacists. With more inclusive, multiprofessional leadership from clinicians and care providers, we are better able to meet the complex needs of people, rather than just treating their individual conditions. It is essential for designing and delivering truly integrated care.”

Claire Spencer, one of Lambeth Together’s new recruits, said:

I feel privileged to be joining the Lambeth Together team at this time. My day job is as an infant feeding coordinator and  midwife at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.  I will be working with Lambeth Together Children and Young People’s Alliance to support women and birthing people on their maternity journey. I am so pleased that my clinical knowledge and understanding is being recognised as important. And I am excited to bring my front line service experience to the heart of Lambeth Together’s work to improve the health of local people.”
