Knock Covid for 6 at The Kia Oval this weekend

People living in south east London and beyond are being invited to a special COVID-19 mass vaccination event at The Kia Oval, the home of Surrey County Cricket Club, this Saturday 17 July.

From 8am to 8pm the Pfizer vaccine will be on offer at the stadium for everyone aged 18 and over. Second doses will also be available to anyone who had their first jab at least eight weeks ago, before 23 May 2021.

To book a vaccination slot, register online.

Walk-in slots will also be available on the day.

People looking to get their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be able to do so across the road at Montgomery Hall.

NHS South East London Clinical Commissioning Group, Lambeth Council, Surrey County Cricket Club and Lambeth GP Federation have teamed up to turn The Kia Oval into a mass vaccination centre to help get as many people protected against COVID-19 as possible.

Dr Abdul Mukadam, Clinical Director of Lambeth GP Federation said:

“Cases are rising fast and there are still a lot of people in Lambeth and across London who have not been vaccinated. Although most younger adults are at less risk of serious illness with COVID-19 it is still hugely important that they get vaccinated to protect their loved ones and their communities as well as themselves. Every vaccination is not only a step towards protecting everyone we love, it is also a step towards returning to normal so I strongly urge anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to get down to The Kia Oval on Saturday and knock Covid for 6.”

Ruth Hutt, Director of Public Health at Lambeth Council, said:

“With every vaccination administered we reduce the risk the virus poses to ourselves, our loved ones and the most vulnerable in our community. We know that two jabs eight weeks apart provide the best protection against Covid-19. Anybody who had their first dose at least eight weeks ago should book their second now by calling 119 or on the NHS website www.nhs.uk or by coming to one of our walk-in vaccination clinics. At The Oval this Saturday we will be giving first and second doses of Pfizer, with AstraZeneca available across the road at Montgomery Hall.

“We know some people may want to access further information on COVID-19 vaccination before coming along on Saturday, so we have a number of resources available for you to do this at www.nhsselondonvaccinefacts.com

Councillor Jim Dickson, Chair of the Lambeth Health and Wellbeing Board, said:

“The pandemic has been particularly hard for people in Lambeth but now we can start to look forward to reconnecting with family and friends and making this summer a summer to remember. The offer of a vaccine is evergreen, so whether you do it for friends, festivals and trips, for doing all the things we’ve missed, getting your vaccine for whoever or whatever reason matters to you is really easy. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet or haven’t had your second dose, book it now or come to The Oval on Saturday or one of the many walk-in vaccination clinics in pharmacies, GP surgeries, hospitals and community settings around Lambeth and south east London every day of the week.”
