It’s Sexual Health Week – take control of your sexual health!

Posted in:

From 9 to 15 September 2024 it’s Sexual Health Week, and there’s never been a better time to make your sexual and reproductive health a priority. This year’s theme, ‘Make Sexual Health Simple’, is all about ensuring easy access to sexual health services for everyone—no matter your gender, age, race, or sexual orientation.

Why is this important?

Because your sexual and reproductive health matters, and the services we offer are here to help you take control 24/7.

With rising cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and late HIV diagnoses, it’s critical to stay informed and protected. That’s why there are a range of services designed to keep you and your partners safe.

What can we do for you?

One of the key services available is PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis)—a medication that significantly reduces the risk of HIV transmission when taken before sex. It’s easy, effective and readily available to you. But remember, using condoms is still crucial for protecting yourself from other STIs and preventing unplanned pregnancies.

Did you know that many STIs show no symptoms at all? That means you could be infected without even knowing it. Luckily, getting tested has never been easier. You can order a free, confidential home testing kit at www.shl.uk and get peace of mind from the comfort of your home.

If you are experiencing symptoms, we’ve got you covered! Don’t wait too long, you should go to your nearest sexual health clinic for a check-up. Find your closest clinic.

Take control of your reproductive health

Whether you’re looking to start a family or not, having control over your reproductive health is empowering. For women, the pill is one way to manage when and if you want to become pregnant. Need contraception urgently? No problem. Many pharmacies in Lambeth offer free routine and emergency contraception without a prescription or GP referral. You can even order online at www.shl.uk

Confidential, free services for everyone

Worried about privacy? Don’t be. All our services are confidential, so your personal information is safe with us. And best of all, they’re completely free.

Now is the time to take action!

Don’t wait until it’s too late—whether you need a simple check-up, PrEP, contraception, or STI testing, there are tools and resources to keep you healthy. Visit www.shl.uk to access these services, or head to your nearest clinic today. Your sexual health is in your hands—let’s make it simple.
