Chronic Pain PEACS Project Recognised at HSJ Awards 2024 for Innovation and Race Equality
The Chronic Pain PEACS (Pain, Education, Advice, and Community Support) Project has been Highly Commended at the HSJ Awards 2024, a prestigious national healthcare accolade. The project, a collaboration between Mind & Body (King’s Health Partners), Stockwellbeing PCN, Thriving Stockwell, and local patients, was recognised for its pioneering work in tackling healthcare inequalities. The initiative was honoured in two categories: NHS Race Equality Aware and Innovation in Reducing Healthcare Inequalities.
The Chronic Pain PEACS Project aims to transform the way chronic pain is managed in the community. By offering personalised education, advice, and support, the project empowers patients to take control of their pain management and access the care they need in a more holistic, community-focused way. The collaborative approach is designed to improve access to services, reduce reliance on traditional clinical settings, and address barriers to care faced by underserved populations.
Dr Sarfraz Jeraj, Clinical Lead for the Chronic Pain PEACS Project, expressed the significance of the award: “We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition at the HSJ Awards. The PEACS Project is about more than just managing pain – it’s about offering a holistic, patient-centred approach that takes into account the unique challenges our community faces. Following a successful first year, with significant reach and impact supported by robust evaluation data, this award highlights the real difference we’re making. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved – from clinicians to patients – and the positive changes we’re already seeing in people’s lives.”
