A message from Lambeth Police

The overwhelming majority of people in London are doing exactly what the Government advice is asking, which is please stay at home and protect our National Health Service.

The Met is here to protect and police London and we will continue to do that. A major part of our job is talking to people – it’s what we trained for. We came into policing to help and officers and staff across London are doing that every day.

If someone is out and about and we do have some questions as to why they might be there, we will talk to them, we will engage, explain and encourage them to go home. We have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction from people – not only when we are speaking to them across London but also through all the other interactions we’re doing online.

We want to reassure everyone that we are here to police London and to keep people as safe as we possibly can.
