Sarah Flanagan

Patient and Public Voice Member

Sarah moved to Brixton from North London, where she was born and educated, in 1995. She has had a career lasting almost 40 years as a trained general nurse and midwife. This included working in both the NHS and charitable organisations, including a year in Natal, South Africa. Sarah’s career concluded as a midwife at King’s College Hospital, when she was unable to continue due to mental ill health.

This background gives Sarah great insight and perspective with regard to the needs of people who use health and care services, as well as those who are delivering health services.

Sarah is now a member and volunteer at Mosaic Clubhouse, which supports people with ongoing mental health concerns to regain confidence and skills to lead productive and satisfying lives. She also volunteers with Centre 70 advice service and remains involved with various community groups.

Sarah has a particular interest in maternity and mental health care.
