Jacqui has been a Lambeth local councillor since 2014. She is Joint Cabinet Member for Healthier Communities, having previously been Cabinet Member for Economic Inclusion and Equalities.
Jacqui works with the Lambeth Together Board to achieve the aspirations and outcomes of the Lambeth Together Health and Care Plan – Our Health, Our Lambeth – and advocates for a continued focus on reducing health inequalities across the partnership. Jacqui brings great experience in empowering communities locally and nationally and is dedicated to getting residents heard and involved in decision-making.
Jacqui was co-founder and chair of Lambeth’s Black Thrive Partnership which takes a collective impact approach to improving the mental health and wellbeing of its Black Caribbean and African citizens through addressing inequities in the system and she is currently Director of Black Thrive Global. Alongside this, Jacqui played a central role in developing the first anti-racism framework for mental health trusts and service providers in the country. The Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (or PCREF) was published by NHS England in October 2023 and will support mental health services to embed anti-racism within their organisations. PCREF is already being implemented locally by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust along with its partners.
Nationally, Jacqui is the Mental Health Equalities advisor for NHS England and at London level she has co-chaired the Mayoral ‘Thrive London’ programme from inception. Jacqui was also an advisory panel member of the Mental Health Act Review and co-chair of its African & Caribbean Working Group (MHARAC) which delivered key recommendations including the PCREF.
