We’re very proud of Lambeth’s Dr Jacqui Dyer MBE and Black Thrive Lambeth’s role in developing the first anti racism framework for mental health trusts and service providers in the country. The Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (or PCREF) was published by NHS England on 30 October, and will support mental health services to embed anti-racism within their organisations.

On 4 October 2023, new national plans to create the first ‘smokefree generation’ were announced. There are a number of new measures, which include more funding to support people to quit smoking and action to tackle youth vaping.
In Lambeth around 13 percent of adults in the borough continue to smoke, that’s over 35,000 residents.

Lambeth Together Health champions will be at the Thriving Stockwell event on Sat, 21 October at 10am until 5pm at the Tate South Lambeth Library ready to provide health checks including blood pressure and share health information with the community.

Lambeth marks World Mental Health Day with a free event from Healthwatch and free suicide awareness training.
World Mental Health Day takes place on 10 October every year. National and local organisations and groups organise events and activities either on the day or in the days surrounding it, putting a spotlight on the importance of mental health, support available for people and things people can do to protect their mental health.
